DS9Designs Tatting and Beads
Pipevine Swallowtail Butterfly Pattern
Updated 01/20/03
I grew up in Carmichael, California, USA. We had a deep purple lilac tree in our backyard that was just loaded with blooms each spring. These butterflies loved the lilac blossoms and Sherry and I spent many happy hours watching (and catching) them!
Techniques used: Split ring for body. Self-closing mock ring for each of the wings. 2 small beads were used for eyes.
When tatted with Altin Basak (colors 342 and 344) size 50 thread (really between a 20 and 30), butterfly wing span measures about 4 1/2" and length about 2 1/2". I get my Altin Basak thread from Donna Grupp at http://www.thethreadstore.com. The thread is found by clicking on the Turkish thread link.   No affilition, just a happy customer!
Pattern price: $2.50
