Onion Tatting Pattern

When tatted with size 20 thread, the onion measures about 1 inch wide and 2 inches tall. Requires 1 shuttle and lots of shoe-lace tricks or 2 shuttles. I tend to use 2 shuttles. Techniques used: Inverted tatting (chain folded back on itself), Catherine wheel join, 1 ring and lots of chains. The red and white onion shows the thread progression when using 2 shuttles as well as tying off the ends and fraying them for roots. The white onion shows how the pattern looks when the ends are hidden. Instructions for the Catherine Wheel join are included with the pattern. Pattern Price: $2.50
