Here is our garden behind the house. The garden fence is about 4 feet tall. And so is the drift! |
|
Our barn. Yesterday afternoon the drift was 4.5 feet tall. You can still see where I got the snowblower through yesterday. |

Looking out from our garage. A neighbor got her SUV stuck in the ditch yesterday and it will be awhile til she can get it towed out. Between the house and the SUV is a row of 1 foot tall tree tubes, the tops of which you can barely see. These tree tubes are above road level by about 6 feet. The drift going through here is level across the road--the plows are going to have fun with this drift! |

Another shot from our garage. There's a road down there somewhere. On the right side of the picture, you can see part of one of our snowfences. It did a great job again. Had it not been in place, the driveway would be much worse than it is. We don't take our snowfences down til at least May. Gee, wonder why??? |

A shot from the corner of the garage looking toward the barn. Snowfence #2 is on the left and caught a lot of snow. People always ask us "How much snow did we get?" That's hard to answer--every storm we get areas with deep drifts and areas that are clear. |

First pass with the snowblower. Everything I had cleared yesterday was filled back in by this morning. Oh, joy! |

Shot from the bottom of the driveway looking back toward the house. Pass #1 done, many more to go. |

Shot from the end of the driveway looking east down the road. The whtie SUV is barely visible on the right down there in the drift. |

Shot from the end of the driveway looking west up the road. There's a road in there somewhere. The county came through with a big V-plow yesterday. The one-lane area they opened up was drifted shut within 2 hours. You can hardly tell the road was plowed once. We'll be lucky if the county makes it back late this afternoon. |

April 11, 2005, 6:00 pm. Red plow #1 gets stuck at the upper end of our subdivision road. He didn't get more than 10 feet. |

April 11, 2005, 6:10 pm. The big V-plow works the lower end and stops after about 20 feet. |

April 11, 2005, 6:15 pm. The big V-plow tries to get red plow #1 unstuck, but is unsuccessful. V-plow drives off. |

April 11, 2005, 6:30 pm. Red plow #2 to the rescue. He is able to get red plow #1 unstuck and they both drive off. Can you tell I have nothing better to do than watch the snow melt and take pictures of snow plows? |

April 12, 2005, 10 am. You just can't get a nicer picture than this. Pikes Peak in the background and the county V-plow opening up our road. A big THANKS! to the V-plow! |
